Why steel wins

A metal storage container, also called a conex box or sea can, is built from Corten weathering steel with a hardwood floor, welded corner castings, and doors that seal against wind and water. It was engineered to survive the ocean. On dry land it will outlast any wood or resin shed, with no rot, no termites, no roof to replace, and no assembly.

Sizes and specs

We stock 20ft standard (8ft 6in tall), 20ft high cube, 40ft standard, and 40ft high cube (9ft 6in tall) metal containers. Door openings are about 7ft 8in wide. Add options like double doors on both ends, a tri-door configuration, or a man door and roof vent. Every size is available new one-trip or certified cargo-worthy used.

• 20ft: about 1,170 cubic feet, fits a parking space, roughly 5,000 lb empty.
• 40ft standard: about 2,390 cubic feet, roughly 8,000 lb empty.
• 40ft high cube: about 2,690 cubic feet with an extra foot of headroom.

Options that turn a box into a workshop

A double-door container has doors on both ends for drive-through access to long material. A tri-door adds a third door on the side. A man door and roof vent make a container comfortable to walk in and out of all day, and the vent keeps air moving in summer heat. See current options on the inventory page.

Placing a metal container

Metal containers are strong at the corners, so a level base under those corners is all it takes. Gravel, decomposed granite, footings, or a slab all work. Our site prep guide covers it in five minutes.
